In 2024, we had the pleasure of visiting Oxford and Bicester Village, two remarkable destinations in England that offer a blend of history, culture, and modern-day indulgence. Oxford, with its iconic “City of Dreaming Spires,” is renowned for its centuries-old university and stunning architecture, while Bicester Village is a shopper’s paradise, featuring luxury brands and exclusive deals. Together, they made for an unforgettable day.

Oxford: The City of Dreaming Spires

Our day began in Oxford, a historic city that has inspired scholars, artists, and writers for centuries. The skyline, dominated by the elegant spires of its colleges, set the stage for a journey into one of the most iconic university towns in the world.

Exploring the Colleges and Libraries

Oxford is home to some of the most beautiful colleges, each with its unique charm. We took a guided tour of Christ Church College, famous not only for its magnificent architecture but also as a filming location for the Harry Potter movies. The Great Hall and Tom Quad were particularly mesmerizing, showcasing centuries of academic excellence.

The Bodleian Library, one of the oldest libraries in Europe, was another highlight. Its historic reading rooms and impressive collections left us in awe. Adjacent to the library, the Radcliffe Camera stood as a symbol of Oxford’s scholarly heritage.

Bicester Village: A Shopper’s Haven

In the afternoon, we headed to Bicester Village, a short drive from Oxford. Known for its collection of luxury outlets, this shopping destination offers an unparalleled retail experience.
